Firewall
Intruder Detection and Disruption Prevention
Our job is to protect your site from users exploiting server vulnerabilities. We take our job very seriously, and to aid us in this we have set-up and maintain an active firewall system.
Port Blocking
We limit our avenues of attack by limiting our connectivity. Only ports that are essential to the proper operation of our server and services are left open. This allows us to easily harden our servers and protect your information.
Brute Force Detection and Prevention
Many would-be hackers attempt to break into servers using the brute force method. This means they try random letter / number combinations, or use a dictionary, to try to guess your password. If they guess your password correctly there is little we can do to stop them, we cannot distinguish between your access and theirs.
To counter this we are running a Brute Force Detector application, which actively and in real-time monitors all log-in attempts on our servers. After a set number of tries to log-in with invalid credentials the users is permanently banned from our servers.
Injection Attacks
Although not a true part of the Firewall system, we do attempt to protect our users and server from various forms of Injections attacks by using apache module mod_security. This will help to prevent most forms of attacks on our user's sites.
